Surrounded by Magic

As a belated Christmas present, this Saturday just gone Ross drove me down to Leavesden Studios in Watford to spend the day surrounded by Magic. Yes, I fangirled. Hard.

I have been an avid fan of the Harry Potter series ever since I was a little girl when my mum would read segments of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to me before bed. Ross couldn't have given me a better gift if he'd tried! The day was actually booked pretty last minute (only the Tuesday before) and for the majority of last week I was buzzing with excitement, telling anyone who would listen where I was going that Saturday.

Warner Bros. Harry Potter World is something truly amazing. I've been to Disney World Florida once or twice and this is on the same level. The staff are fans themselves and seem more than happy to give you little production secrets which adds to your overall experience. It's amazing to think that so much happiness, entertainment and 'magic' exists due to the moment that JK Rowling put pen to paper on a train from Manchester to London. Walking round the attraction you really get a feel for how many lives the series have actually touched; there are little kids running round trying to find all 12 of the hidden snitches within the prop store, you hear snippets of French or German as you are in Dumbledore's office and pretty much everyone seems in awe of the maintained sets positioned side by side.

As a fan, I really can't recommend the tour highly enough. It was absolutely amazing to be able to see just how much detail the thousands of designers and staff went into in order to bring the much-loved books to life for the movies that became an empire themselves. I loved the films anyway, but I will now look at them in a completely different light having been able to sit in a green screen booth which was later manipulated to look like the Weasley's Ford Anglia. I can't wait until I have the time to have a proper marathon again.

Even if you aren't necessarily a Harry Potter fan, perhaps the trip is worth it just to sample the famous Butterbeer?

Have any of you been to Harry Potter World? Are you a fan of the magic too?
